What is Brain Health?

The promotion of brain health is a local and national public health priority. At the GW Institute for Brain Health and Dementia, we use the term "brain health" to describe the optimization of mental function, cognitive function, and brain integrity. Having a healthy brain allows Individuals to maintain their independence and actively participate in their own lives. We are focused on examining and promoting brain health through research on prevention, treatment, management, and population health to ensure the highest potential for brain health can be achieved and maintained through adulthood.
